Vienna (Austria), 1986. Initiator Dr. med. Klaus Bliemegger, founded the 'Institut für sportmedizinische Leistungserfassung und Trainingsberatung', or in short, the 'SportMed Institut' Over 30 years later, he is still the driving force.
The SportMed Institute is one of Europe's first institutes for sports science and sports medicine research and training management. Led by Dr. med. Klaus Bliemegger, a professional team of sports doctors, sports scientists, physiotherapists, nutrition specialists and people/physical trainers from practice, guaranteed optimal guidance for (top) athletes, (hobby) athletes and people who want to do exercise or sport in a responsible, pleasant and individually tailored way.
The SportMed Institute focuses on:
and can fall back on a team of experts that consists of:
Initially, the SportMed institute mainly helped out top athletes, but soon after it was founded it focused on the so-called 'Hobbysportler' and people who pursue a (more) active lifestyle by participating in sport in a pleasant, healthy and responsible way. The SportMed Institute is therefore a pioneer in the field of qualitative coaching in physical activities for non-top athletes and also non-athletes who wanted to start with a healthier lifestyle.
In 1989 the SportMed Institute moved into the prestigious fitness project, Manhattan fitness (www.manhattan.at) in Vienna. With its 7,000 m2 area spread over five floors and its more than 3,700 "life time" members, Manhattan fitness chose from the outset to support the SportMed Institute, for the guidance of its members.
